Dedicated to serving individuals with developmental disabilities since 1966

Independence -- what The Center is all about. Originally named ARC/Pasco (Association for Retarded Citizens/Pasco), the organization changed its name to The Center for Independence in 1996 to better reflect our mission. The ARC/Pasco Foundation, our fundraising component, still uses the ARC name.

Imagine a community where individuals are all naturally accepted, where all have opportunities to contribute and where all are empowered to become an integral part or their community. That is our Vision.

Our Mission

The Center for Independence promotes informed choices and opportunities for individuals and families to reach independence in their lives and communities through advocacy services and supports.

The Center has over 40 years experience in providing quality services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities in Pasco County and empowering them to achieve the highest level of independence and participation in their community.

The Center for Independence, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization that is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
